Two unique workshops centered on Southwest Louisiana's popular music genres, Cajun and Zydeco, will be presented at this year's Spice & Music Festival scheduled for June 4-6, 2010 in historic downtown Opelousas. Part of the festival's efforts to preserve and promote the region's distinct Cajun and Creole cultures, the workshops being presented include a Fiddle Jam with Hadley Castille & Friends scheduled for Saturday, June 5, at 1:30 p.m. followed by The History of Jure', A Creole Tradition presented by Cecilia Broussard, Virgie Ann Mayon, Leatha Bergeron and Mary Bias scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both workshops, which are free and open to the public, take place at the The Delta Grand Theatre across from the St. Landry Parish Courthouse.
