Haplogroup B-M42 (Y-DNA)
In human genetics, Haplogroup B-M42 is a Y-chromosome haplogroup.
Haplogroup B-M42 is descended from A2-T about 70,000 years bp, possibly originating in western North Africa or central West Africa. The paragroup or haplogroup without additional lineage definition has not been found in modern populations. It is therefore known by its descendant lineages.

Laos is a state of Indochina Peninsula (also mainland SE Asia) hosting a huge ethnic diversity. As many as 49 ethnic groups are acknowledged nowadays, often divided into lowland (Lao and others, mostly of Kradai languages), midland (Mon-Khmer and others of mostly Austroasiatic languages) and highland peoples (Hmong and others of Hmong-Mien and Tibeto-Burman languages).

West's Meditations: Austronesian Origins
Where did the Austronesian languages come from? People have been talking about that for a few hundred years now - Austronesian linguistics is not an entirely new phenomenon - but the debate has now developed to a high degree of sophistication and nuance. Early European explorers noticed the similarities between Austronesian languages, especially those in Polynesia, at about the same time as British scholars in India were noticing the similarities between the Indo-European languages.
