Table Mountain Observatory
Table Mountain Observatory (TMO) is an astronomical observation facility operated by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (California Institute of Technology). It is located in Angeles National Forest near Wrightwood, California. Located 63 kilometers (39 mi) north-northeast of Los Angeles, TMO is part of JPL's Table Mountain Facility (TMF). The larger site hosts a number of non-astronomical projects. The site was first used by the Smithsonian Institution in 1924, which conducted atmospheric, solar, and astronomical observations for many years. JPL took over the lease in 1962.
TMO conducts high-precision astrometric observations to support NASA and international spacecraft mission navigation, confirmation and recovery of Near-Earth objects such as comets and asteroids that may potentially impact the Earth, and technology development.

South African Adventure: Including Table Mountain
Hello everyone, Just wanted to share my most recent outdoor experience with everyone on the forums. My last group of photos was my Thanksgiving trip up to Mount Eisenhower seen in the Winter Photos thread. This January I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to South Africa. My group spent three days in Johannesburg, nearly seven days in Kruger National Park, and three days in Cape Town where we hiked Table Mountain! I just can't describe all the wildlife we encountered! I wish

Gamsberg – Namibia’s Table Mountain | Wilkinson's World
We had a weekend with a difference recently when we decided to hike up Gamsberg, a Namibian mountain with an elevation of 2347 m above sea level. This flat-topped mountain closely resembles Table Mountain in South Africa and it is famous (or infamous) for more than just the tortuous walk to the top.

Autumn Foliage Report for Table Mtn Area + Crawford Notch (24-Sep-2009)
Gheez! How I love autumn! I wanted to be everywhere in the Whites today, instantly, and all at once, to check out the foliage. However, it wasn't long before reality set in, and so I had to settle for just doing a quick check of a few locations (Table Mtn off Bear Notch Rd; Crawford Notch; Rocky Gorge area off the Kanc). The bottom-line to today's adventures is that "peak foliage" hasn?t arrived yet in these particular locations, but it's getting there!:) Below are 3 snapshots taken
