Eurogenes Blog: Ust'-Ishim belongs to K-M526
Not long ago I predicted that Ust'-Ishim belonged to a basal form of Y-chromosome haplogroup P (see here). As it turns out, the 45,000 year-old western Siberian genome belongs to K(xLT) or K-M526, which is actually pretty close to my guess.

Dienekes’ Anthropology Blog: Ancient Y chromosomes from China
This appears to be an abstract of a 2012 dissertation from Jilin University (using Google Translate): Northern China is the hub of East Asia connecting North Asia, Central Asia and the European civilization, it is a vast variety of natural ecological environment, suitable for farming, nomadic, hunting and fishing and other economic lifestyle coexist, since ancient times is fertile ground for human life, many ancient ethnic groups in here thrive and leave a valuable intangible cultural heritage. Ancient ancestors of the region but also a number of occasions by force to seize power, large-scale war had thrown the history of the North China southward to accelerate China Southern, northern populations gene fusion.

For what they were... we are: A review of haplogroup N (Y-DNA)
Haplogroup N (Y-DNA) is spread from the Baltic to the South China Sea being one of those rare genetic links between East and West Eurasia (other than ultimate common ancestry) and one of the two Y-DNA lineages which expanded across the Northern Eurasian continent (the other one being Q). While it is apparent to me and many others that the lineage originated in East Asia and expanded first Northwards to Siberia and later Westwards to Europe. I have found sometimes reluctance to accept this fact or difficulty understanding why.

IntroductionY-DNA Haplogroup N Eurasian Distribution Per ISOGG's 2013 SNP tree and as has been the case for years, Y-DNA Haplogroup N is defined by the M231 mutation (G->A at rs9341278) on the Y-Chromosome. With a predominantly North Eurasian distribution, it peaks in Europe among the Finnish people and various ethnic groups residing in Russia's far north through the N1c-Tat subclade.
